Overview

Yuwa, recently featured in Al Jazeera, National Geographic and Bloomberg Businessweek, is a non-profit girls’ school educating the future leaders and change-makers of India. Yuwa is based in a village in the Ranchi district of Jharkhand, where girls are especially at risk of child marriage and human trafficking. Through quality education and the creation of football (soccer) teams, girls develop leadership skills and confidence, gain critical knowledge of health and rights, and escape the threat of child marriage. Here, teamwork is a powerful force to promote health, education and improved livelihoods among the most important agents of change—young women.
